The Vaginas are Back

Now this sounds like an evening of pure entertainment: The election event of the season, "Vaginas Vote, Chicks Rock!"

On the evening of September 13th, actors, singers, dancers, thinkers and leaders will all come together at the historic Apollo Theater in Harlem for a night of entertainment and political empowerment.

Confirmed to date: Vanessa Carlton, Toni Childs, Rosario Dawson, Eve Ensler, Jane Fonda, Rha Goddess & WE GOT ISSUES, Jehmu Greene, Isabella Rossellini, Susan Sarandon (pending availability), Rep. Jan Schakowsky, Gloria Steinem, Julia Stiles, Marie Wilson, and many more. WE GOT ISSUES has been commissioned by V-Day for the event and will feature young women speaking out through a performance-based dialogue on feminine power, politics, and civic transformation. The Executive Producers are V-Day Founder/Playwright Eve Ensler and V-Counsel Member/Actor Jane Fonda.

"Vaginas Vote, Chicks Rock" takes place less than 2 months before the presidential election and organizers are using the power of arts and activism to motivate and inspire all women-especially young women-to raise their voices and get out the vote to end violence against women and girls.

Unmarried women are the LARGEST group of people not participating in our democracy. Sixteen million unmarried women are unregistered; more than 22 million didn't vote in 2000.

"There are thousands of V-Day activists standing up to end violence against women. The time has come to take that vagina power to the polls," said Eve Ensler, founder of V-Day and playwright of The Vagina Monologues and The Good Body. "Join us on the 13th for an evening of inspiration, imagination and amazing performances. Value your vagina -- Vote!"

I was so worried that vaginas in this country were going unheard from. I'm glad they've finally found their voice. As everybody knows, that the only people who commit violence against women are white males who vote Republican. They may not do it with their fists, but they do it with their repressiveness and through domination of the remote control.

Like so many other "get out the vote" groups, these twits claim to be "non-partisan". In reality, their only mission is to drum up more votes for their anti-war war hero, Lurch.

Next time someone comes knocking at your door trying to "get out the vote", greet them with a grenade launcher.
